Me: someone on dw put naegi as hufflepuff and i think that fits best (also jess said he should be ravenclaw and all the other ravenclaws are baffled at HOW he got sorted with them lmao)

Me: mmhm, i see her as one. she's just creative and cryptic enough to be a shoe in without being typical

Me: hm I sort of agree with komaeda, but i also see him as slytherin because DAMN THAT BOY IS WILLING TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES. he is ambitious and unafraid of doing whatever it takes. and in the game he follows the rules because uh YOU HAVE TO but his fucking with trials like he does is about as close as bending the rules as seen fit as the game can get

Weird, not really many friends, cares about people and is a nice person if you bother to get past the weird and actually get to know them (and by "get past" i mean "get used to" because it's not going anywhere)

Me: people like putting her in Ravenclaw, and idk I GET IT but at the same time i feel that's sort of... simplifying her? OH SHE LIKES READING ABOUT THE OCCULT, RAVENCLAW. She's also very independent and, while there is a culture gap, she is also very intelligent. She stands up for herself and others and isn't the type to easily back down. Not that Ravenclaws CAN'T be that, but at the same time i just... feel like sorting her so easily stops before you can get more in depth with her
Me: like tbh I see her as a gryffindor/ravenclaw cusp. she has that whimsy of a ravenclaw but that not putting up with shit of a gryffindor

Me: Souda is one that is... I don't want to say generic, but I can make a decent case for him in p much any house tbh. He is loyal (he calls Hinata Sould Friend once they bond, he defends his family even if he just finished saying HIS FATHER WOULD BEAT HIM, etc), but he is also quick tempered and doesn't think much before acting/speaking, but he's smart in other ways and definitely an outside of the box thinker.
Me: like the only case I don't feel I could sell is him as Slytherin, because he is kind of spineless (and not in the typical slytherin way.) (tho i mean if he COULD BE maybe he would, idk. he's a bit too much of a baby to be cunning and manipulative imo tho)

Me: okay, so we have the ot3 taken care of. going back to dr for a moment-- what about sakura and aoi? I see Hufflepuff and Gryffindor respectively. both share a lot of similar traits with one another, but Sakura just has unrivaled loyalty and Asahina is very quick to action.
Me: (I mean hardwork, determination, and loyalty are the Hufflepuff things, and those all just say Sakura to me. Aoi has a lot of that too, but I just have a Gryff vibe from her. She has the whole nerve/courage thing going on imo.)

Me: How about Mondo, Chihiro, and Ishimaru? I haven't thought too much about them but already feel like Ishi is a cusp lmao. what thoughts do you have? (whoops i feel like i'm sort of taking over MY BAD i have a lot of dr and hp feels and just fucking love sorting)

Leah: uhhhmm idk I could def. see Chihiro being a Gryffindor, a lot like Nevil. They're emotional and don't seem very strong or brave but they're actual really really strong and want to be stronger to help their friends

Me: I mean-- and thi is GONNA HURT BUT-- Mondo thought he was being mocked and didn't see himself as strong, so even a dude like him saw Chihiro as strong, at least in that moment. They don't come off as very brave or strong but they def are.

Me: For Ishimaru it seems like he should be Hufflepuff or Gryffindor at a glance but I'm gonna make a case for Slytherin. Traditional, ambition, leadership qualities, celverness, and power are all Slytherin things and they're all very Ishimaru things. He'd be that one goody two shoes Slytherin who is all about following the rules. He's the most annoying prefect and a lot of others in his house don't like him because he is such a buzzkill.

Me: I never see him as Slytherin but I just can't see him anywhere else as much as I can Slytherin

Me: First glace traits are Gryffindor (brave, nerve, courage, daring) and the ones you get when you get to know him (plot, manga, and free time events) are mostly Hufflepuff (dedication, hard work, unafraid of earning what he wants, etc)-- and that's not to say there's no puff at a glance or no gryff as you get to know him but he's just... SO MUCH OF THOSE HOUSES
Me: Like honestly I'd lean toward Gryffindor with him (because also chivalry as you get to know him, what with man promises and all) but a case could be made for either you kno?

Me: yeah... and i mean technically they... are the same person. It's another personality of hers, and they have their own memories and personality but it's all part of the same character
Leah: i wanna say Ravenclaw because she's the literary girl but that's too easy
Me: so... would the sorting hat only see into Fukawa's part of the mind, since that's all Fukawa has access too herself? Would there be this split where it takes forever to sort her as the hat deals with both sides if it can see them both?
Me: YEAH it's fucking tough. it's so easy to shrug her off as Ravenclaw, and maybe she'd be best there, but it seems too easy to do that without giving her real thought...

Me: keep in mind some houses have more traits listed than others so it's not as simple as counting the houses and picking who has the most, but they overlap a LOT more than I would have thought they would when I started that list.
Me: In very different ways, but they still do.
Me: and it's hardly perfect as some traits are a ymmv kind of thing but i tried not to split hairs either

Me: as cliche as it is I do like the idea of Maizono seeming like this totally sweet Slytherin who got put in the wrong house but who will actually not hesitate to hex you if you stand between her and what she wants. (tho she could also make a good Hufflepuff in just the same way, esp as she IS genuinely kind and hardworking, and when she realised she failed to kill Leon she did what she could in her last moments to save Naegi... so she WOULD HAVE FRAMED HIM which is shitty but she's more complex than that)

Me: For Ishimaru it seems like he should be Hufflepuff or Gryffindor at a glance but I'm gonna make a case for Slytherin. Traditional, ambition, leadership qualities, celverness, and power are all Slytherin things and they're all very Ishimaru things. He'd be that one goody two shoes Slytherin who is all about following the rules. He's the most annoying prefect and a lot of others in his house don't like him because he is such a buzzkill.

Me: And Mondo is basically Gryffindor/Hufflepuff. Like it sounds rude because he IS a complex character, but all his major traits are one of those two houses.
Me: First glace traits are Gryffindor (brave, nerve, courage, daring) and the ones you get when you get to know him (plot, manga, and free time events) are mostly Hufflepuff (dedication, hard work, unafraid of earning what he wants, etc)-- and that's not to say there's no puff at a glance or no gryff as you get to know him but he's just... SO MUCH OF THOSE HOUSES
Me: Like honestly I'd lean toward Gryffindor with him (because also chivalry as you get to know him, what with man promises and all) but a case could be made for either you kno?
